FACADE PIPES

GRAFTON PIANO & ORGAN DESIGNS AND CONSTRUCTS 'FACADE' (FAKE) ORGAN PIPES FOR A NEW ORGAN INSTALLATION

What do you do when you when you have a great sounding Allen Organ, that plays like, looks like, and sounds like the real thing (a pipe organ) but you want the look of pipes to complete the effect? One solution is buy real polished facade  pipes - another is to make your own! We are presently in the middle of a project where we are producing two facade pipe arrays for a new Allen Organ. These Chancel pipes will actually play - well, sort of. Part of the organ will be sounding from the custom tone cabinets residing within the pipe 'chests'. While this whole idea of "fake pipes" may bother some people, be assured we love well-designed, well-maintained wind-blown organs, and with good reason - they're the real thing! However, many of the worlds finest organs sport non-functioning facade pipes to put a happy face on otherwise boring (and sometimes unattractive) pipework in the organ chamber.

Stay tuned for more pictures showing the progress of this organ installation!
