CARLO CURLEY

If you knew Carlo, there's not much more that can be said. For many reasons, Carlo was often referred to as the 'heir apparent' of the late organ virtuoso Virgil Fox. We had the privilege of not only knowing this gifted musician but working with him on projects here in the Philadelphia area. On more than one occasion I would walk into our office only to hear the founder of our Company, Cal Grafton, on the phone laughing with Carlo - they always enjoyed sharing stories and jokes. As a long-time friend to everyone here at Graftons, as well as the Allen Organ Company, Carlo was truly a person who loved people as well as the king of instruments - the organ. From the after-concert 'late suppers' to the time he begged us to ride on top of the Estonia grand piano we delivered to his Philadelphia apartment (many stories up, and on the end of a long crane cable!), the times with Carlo were never boring.

Enjoy this well-done video by Vic Ferrer when he interviewed Carlo at the Spreckles Organ Pavillion-Balboa Park, San Diego. Carlo talked about his musical beginnings and passion for the organ.
