JONATHAN BEECH MEMORIAL CONCERT

This past Saturday everyone here at Grafton Piano & Organ was honored to play a very small part in the annual Jonathan Beech memorial concert held at the Kennett Square High School. Jonathan passed away at the age of 15 from brain cancer. Every year since 2009 volunteers and musicians come together to perform major musical works for the purpose of raising funds, benefiting organisations such as Children's Hospital, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and many more. Our small role in this event was to provide our Allen 3-manual touring organ which played a large supporting role for works such as John Rutter’s uplifting “Gloria” as well as others. For more information on past and upcoming concerts, click on Jonathan's photo below.

CARLO CURLEY

If you knew Carlo, there's not much more that can be said. For many reasons, Carlo was often referred to as the 'heir apparent' of the late organ virtuoso Virgil Fox. We had the privilege of not only knowing this gifted musician but working with him on projects here in the Philadelphia area. On more than one occasion I would walk into our office only to hear the founder of our Company, Cal Grafton, on the phone laughing with Carlo - they always enjoyed sharing stories and jokes. As a long-time friend to everyone here at Graftons, as well as the Allen Organ Company, Carlo was truly a person who loved people as well as the king of instruments - the organ. From the after-concert 'late suppers' to the time he begged us to ride on top of the Estonia grand piano we delivered to his Philadelphia apartment (many stories up, and on the end of a long crane cable!), the times with Carlo were never boring.

Enjoy this well-done video by Vic Ferrer when he interviewed Carlo at the Spreckles Organ Pavillion-Balboa Park, San Diego. Carlo talked about his musical beginnings and passion for the organ.

St. Charles Borromeo Seminary buys two new Kawai pianos for Seminarians

Rudy Lucente playing Kawai CE-220 digital piano

Recently St. Charles Seminary in Wynnewood PA purchased two digital pianos, a KAWAI CE-220 and a very portable KAWAI ES-100. Rudy Lucente, the Seminary's Director of Music Studies, recently hand-picked the two pianos at Grafton Piano & Organ's Souderton showroom. While impressed with the quality and ease of use, he was particularly surprised by the sound coming from the portable ES-100 saying, " You have external speakers connected to this, right?" When discovering ALL the sound was coming from  only the ES-110's internal speakers he was shocked! Both instruments will be used for instruction and practice with studies at St. Charles.

Driving up toe St. Charles - Kawai piano delivery

The CE-220 digital console piano features authentic wooden piano keys (just like its acoustic brother) and is equipped with sturdy rolling wheels so it can be moved from classroom to classroom, while the portable ES-100 may be easily packed up and carried to another building or a remote location.

We thank Rudy and St. Charles for their support and wish them many years of enjoyment with their new instruments.

REASONS WHY YOU NEED A PIANO

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL BENEFITS OF PLAYING A PIANO

  • Making music can be therapeutic and calming for all ages
  • Children that learn to play an instrument generally develop very unique qualities and abilities, 'supercharging' their brains, often giving them improved function and capacities in areas such as intellectual, motor, social and emotional, language, and literacy. It also helps the body and the mind work together better (see video further down on page)
  • Learning to play has major healing effects and benefits for Senors, helping with Dementia and Alzheimer's
  • The Piano is an instrument the whole family can enjoy

WHY BUY YOUR PIANO FROM GRAFTONS?

  • We all live here, we are your neighbors - not a chain store, but a family business
Photo of the front of Grafton Piano & Organs showroom
  • In 2013 we celebrated 50-years in business, same ownership, same store, same location
  • Our trained staff delivers your instrument. We don't 'farm-out' our deliveries to moving companies
  • We provide support for you and your instrument. Our staff knows our products - (they aren't clerks or 'order takers')
  • Service or repairs, if needed, are provided by our staff, not a third party service agency
  • Our everyday prices are usually lower than others 'special' sale prices

ALLEN ORGAN PROVIDES TWO ORGANS FOR EVENTS DURING POPE FRANCIS VISIT

Allen Organ Company of Macungie Pennsylvania is proud to have played a small role in providing organs for the Mass with Pope Francis in Madison Square Garden September 25th, as well as the special live coverage broadcast Papal Mass by Allentown Diocese's held at Steel Stacks in Bethlehem on Sunday. Dr. Jennifer Pascual, having worked with Allen for Pope Benedict XVI's visit in 2008, chose an Allen Organ again for this very important event.

When the news of St. Francis' visit was confirmed Jennifer Pasqual, director of music at St. Patrick's Cathedral, contacted Allen Organ for the purpose of securing an instrument for the special Mass to be held at MSG. Allen supplied organs for the 2008 visit of Pope Benedict, bringing beautiful music to the Mass at Yankee Stadium, Washington Nationals Stadium, and the youth rally at St. Joseph Seminary. Allen Organs are known for their worldwide acceptance, pipe-like sound and incomparable quality and reliability. They are the largest builder of Church organs in the world.
